Digital Effort Traceability Pilot

Provides smaller fishing operators with evidence of historic effort to back up claims of displacement should they occur.

Over 100 vessels will be fitted with low maintenance GPS tracking devices and reporting interface with custom designed software allowing users to control their own data.

The editable interface allows the user to track ground conditions, gear loss, species presences and catch summaries.

The ambition is this data will benefit both Seafood and Offshore Renewable Energy as they continue to navigate how to inform primary compensation for displacement for surveys and construction.

This data will also be important for assuring tenure in the upcoming DMAPS programme when designating Marine Protected Areas.
